In the works that we create at Noda Hanga, we strive to express the “byway of time” which gives a feeling of a kind of small festival or holiday hidden in the midst of ordinary life. The interplay of tradition and innovation does not end with the completion of the work, but continues to exist as time passes to create new meanings between the work and the viewer. Our products include: paper sliding doors (fusuma), folding screens (byobu), wallpaper (kabe-gami), panels, partitions (tsuitate), etc.
